The Golden State is the theme at Disneyland’s sister park, Disney California Adventure® Park. Opened in 2001 it has been a work in progress over the years, but the park’s newest incarnation completed in 2012 is a definite keeper due to the addition of one of the most popular areas of all Disney parks, Cars Land, and it’s excellent main attraction, Radiator Springs Racers. Buena Vista Street, an exemplary re-creation of Los Angeles in the 1920’s and 30’s complete with a bronzed statue of Walt and Mickey to greet you on arrival, is a sure winner. Hop on the Red Car Trolley, L.A.’s transportation system until the early ’60s, at the park’s entrance and travel all the way to Hollywood Land’s passing a replica of the Carthay Circle Theater along the way which houses the only 5-star restaurant in a theme park. A good soaking on Grizzly River Run, a wild spin on Toy Story Mania!, and one heck of a scare on California Screamin’ are just a few of the exciting thrills you’ll find in this kick of a park.
